The number of outgoing ways specified on an electrical panel gives you a clear indication of how many separate sub-circuits you can run off from it. Undersized wires cause: Cable Sizing Rule: For 20A circuits, use 12-gauge wire minimum. Or, in other words, how many RCDs and other overcurrent protective devices you can install on a single distribution board.
